Q

Can you share some tips for marketing strategy for a new platform? I am building a platform Referworthy.com exclusively for sharing professional recommendations. The end goal is for folks to share it with their job applications (or on their resume) like they do their Linkedin Profile. Could you share a few considerations I should really care about? Also, before hiring someone, how important are their references/recommendations to you?

Hello Rohan, recommendations and references are extremely important for me and I am pretty sure this is universal.

I have a very basic question. Why should someone use your platform and not LinkedIn? And the answer cannot lie in extra features, because LinkedIn could add those any time they choose. There are also many recruiting platforms that allow for recommendations and referrals.

Ask yourself how many platforms you actually use in your daily life? Very few, I am sure. It is quite hard to drive adoption of a new product unless there is a very sharp and compelling value proposition. What is yours?

The biggest consideration for any marketing strategy would be to show low-cost traction. Can you quickly get a group of users to  use, love and recommend your platform to others?

Good luck!

We have 7 stores for women’s fashion in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Surat. We supply to Myntra and Jabong. Now my son wants us to launch our own e commerce website but we don’t know IT at all.  Is it worth making such a big investment? Should we get into it?
